Oil Cans

I found half a dozen or so oil cans on a stall in Brick Lane and bought them all - so they were pretty much a ready made collection that I just added to over the years. It's the only one of my collections that started out like that. Different collections happen in different ways, sometimes I find myself with quite a few of something before I realise that it's a collection, or sometimes I can buy just one thing and decide that I want it to be a collection, or sometimes I can just get an idea in my head that I want to collect something and then just go about finding it. In the early days, the collections tended to happen more organically, over a long period of time, just collecting things as and when I found them but now, thanks to online auction sites, you can pretty much have a collection within a couple of clicks. Although I would say, nothing quite beats the feeling of a chance find in a car boot sale or junk shop.
