Broken

I think there's something quite wonderful about the display of broken objects in museums. They seem to take on a more precious aura - too precious to throw away, despite them being broken. I also love Kintsugi, meaning golden joinery, which is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold glue, drawing attention to the breakage rather than trying to disguise it. The breakage becomes part of the history of the object - made even more precious with the gold glue. I am currently working on a ceramics project using the concept of broken.
